Ron DeSantis was asked about his thoughts on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DeSantis cracked a joke. "If I had a dollar for every lockdown politician who decided to escape to Florida over the last two years, I'd be a pretty doggone wealthy man, lemme tell ya."
"I mean, Congresspeople, mayors, governors, I mean, you name it," he continued. "It's interesting, though, the reception that some of these folks will get in Florida because I think a lot of Floridians say, 'Wait a minute. You're bashing us because we're not doing your draconian policies. Yet, we're the first place you want to flee to, to be able to enjoy life.' And so, I'm not surprised to see that continue to happen. I could tell you; there are probably about a half-dozen governors who had restrictions on their people and then were spotted at various points in Florida. Some of it's been public; some of it's not been public, but you know, people tell me these things, and so these things are spotted."
AOC is enjoying a little time in Florida, while New York is amid their worst Covid spike yet. She has been a loud advocate of the mandates and all the unnecessary rules put in place in her home state. I guess the limitations do not apply to her, though.
That is what is so worrying about so many of these politicians, with AOC perhaps being one of the heads of the snake. They don't actually believe in the rulings they are forcing on their citizens. DeSantis pointed to it, saying that AOC is not the only politician to have fled to Florida during the last two years. Many have been caught publicly, but interestingly DeSantis, who would have access beyond normal limits, pointed out that there have been many more not publicly known.
If these hypocritical legislators believed in the mandates for the health of their citizens, they would actually follow their own proposed mandates. However, they don't believe in them, they only believe in stretching the limits of their power.
